The new round of rural power grid renovation project of the State Grid has been completed in five years. It plans to complete the tasks of 2.19 million eye-machine wells, 66,000 small towns (central villages) upgrading the power grid, and 78,000 villages passing power and electric power; and The development of rural power grids in Tibet, Xinjiang, and Sichuan, Gansu, and Qinghai provinces will be carried out to promote the equalization of rural grid power supply services in western and poverty-stricken areas, and the power supply capacity of 553 impoverished counties will be improved, addressing a total of 3.426 million rural user “low voltage” problems. We will promote the integration of urban and rural power grids in the eastern and central regions and complete the project to connect the network to the National PV Assistance Project.
State Grid stated that through the implementation of these projects, it is imperative that by the end of 2020, the rural areas in the company's operating areas will basically implement uninterrupted and reliable power supply services. The average time for power outage of rural households will be reduced to 10.5 hours, and the comprehensive voltage pass rate will reach 99.45. %, the distribution transformer capacity per household has increased to 2.2 kVA, and the proportion of electricity in rural household energy consumption has increased significantly.
According to reports, the State Grid Corporation of China has continued to increase investment in rural power grids, accumulatively completed 102.1 billion yuan in investment in rural power grids, built and transformed 6.97 million kilometers of power lines, and 26,800 substations.
